General Info
Hi! Welcome to R.A.I.N Puerto Rico~Rescuing Animals in Need! Right now, there are an unimaginable number of stray animals in PR (200,000+ & growing). Animals roam the streets in search of food, water & shelter. Many if not all suffer from malnutrition & disease. Horses wonder loose, unattended, they are not cared for nor fed, but roam in attempt to find grass wherever they can. Frequently they stray onto roadways; a danger to the driving public as well as their selves. Stray dogs also wander the roadways, thrown out by uncaring owners, to suffer from starvation, disease & abuse while being a threat to any passing motorist, not to mention dodging death by poison, being shot or brutally murdered! This problem is not going to solve itself. It's our mission to save these animals from the streets, vaccinate & spay or neuter them & maintain their health to the best of our ability until we find reputable foster homes or people to outright adopt them & WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! R.A.I.N is a small non-profit organization & was established in Puerto Rico about four years ago. Since then, three women from PR have joined RAIN, as well as one from Niagara Falls, NY. In our tireless efforts to hold down "real jobs" so we can pay for mounting medical bills, & food, there is little or no time for fund raising. The Gov of PR doesn't help us in anyway. We continue to pay for the care of these deserving creatures out of our own pockets! Check out our profile on myspace; adopt don't buy~thank you!
