i.e., A local favorite, or Vehicle alternator died on a hot July, Thursday night. One of the folks who stopped to help us push the vehicle from the main street onto a side street gave us Pop's phone number. He was 30 minutes away from us, offered to take the vehicle to his or any other shop as we directed and came as promptly as traffic would allow. He told us he thought the problem was the alternator, could have his repairman look at it first thing in the morning and would call to advise specific repair needed. We were visiting in our old home town for my 50th high school reunion. We had not lived there for 50 years and knew no repair shops. Rob (Pop's owner who was driving the tow truck that night) said he could take us to the hotel where we were staying and would pick us up when the vehicle was ready next day. Friday morning, 8:35, the phone rang and Rob advised it was the alternator and the belt was worn and he recommended replacing it since they would have it off. Estimated one hour to repair. He suggested we have breakfast and call him when we got back to the room and by then he'd know if the time estimate worked out. When we called him back, the vehicle repair was completed, they were washing the vehicle and would pick us up in 30 minutes, if that was convenient. We were back on the road by 11:15 Friday morning -- thanks to Rob and his staff at Pop's Towing & Recovery. One nice thing about breaking down in a strange town is the great people one can meet in the process! We appreciate Pop's staff for their professional and kind service!highly recommended because
I would give this company 0 stars but you have to choose at least one. My car was towed from being illegally parked (I know, I know, it was my fault initially) on 49th st. and washington in newport news, va. When I called this guy he said it would be $130. Now, Virginia Code 46.2-1233.1 no charges imposed for the towing, storage, and safekeeping of any passenger car removed, towed, or stored without the consent of its owner shall be in excess of the maximum charges provided for in this section. No hookup and initial towing fee shall exceed $125. when I walked the 2 miles to the lot my car was stored at there was a "fees" sign posted stating all of the company's fees. the way they think they're getting around this $125 max is to charge $110 for the tow, and a "$20 admin fee". I know it's only $5 but it's already $125 to get a car that's been towed literally 2 miles.
