PODS is an innovator of the concept of delivering mobile storage containers directly to the customer. The PODS® container is delivered and placed at ground level for easy packing and unpacking. Once customers have completed loading the container, PODS picks up the container and either delivers it to the customers new location or one of PODS storage centers. Customers use PODS for short or long-term storage and for local or long distance moves. The delivery process is completed utilizing a hydraulic lift system, PODZILLA®, which is patented by PODS. The lift is designed to reduce shifting of contents while the container is being loaded onto the PODS truck for transportation. PODS containers come in three sizes (sizes are approximate): 8 X 7 X 7; 8 X 8 X 12; and 8 X 8 X 16 feet. PODS containers are 4 inches off the ground, have translucent roofs to provide light for loading, and customers provide their own lock and key. The containers have been tested to withstand winds of 110 mph when partially loaded. The PODS network currently provides service to a population of more than 237 million consumers. To date, PODS has exceeded one million deliveries, over 200,000 long distance moves and has over 137,000 PODS containers in service.
