Mike Austin, founder of Never Surrender Self Defense, is a decorated police officer and is highly respected in his field. As someone who has actually lived through the situations he describes and discusses with clients, there is no one more qualified than Mike to teach self-defense. Not only did Mike survive countless life-threatening situations due to his line of work, he dominated the encounters. He knows the effects of fight or flight first hand, and he knows the importance of having a winning mind-set. The truth is Mike has actually faced the things most instructors have only heard about. This is what makes Never Surrender and Mike Austin the go-to experts in the field. To paint more of a picture of who Mike is: he has a strong back ground in street survival tactics and combat shooting. He has trained in close quarters combat and martial arts for over 20 years and teaches seminars all over the country. He has faced violent criminals and actual murderers on the street. He has fought multiple attackers at once, disarmed subjects with knives, guns, countless other improvised weapons, and he has received multiple letters of commendation. Mike was appointed to the board of directors of AWSDA (American Women’s Self-Defense Association), a non-profit 501C3. Mike was instrumental in the creation of the national rape prevention certification program, and continues to train regional representatives. Mike graduated from Montgomery County Police Academy with a 4.0 GPA and is certified by the NJ College & University Public Safety Association. Mike has also written articles, been sought out for his expertise in the field, and has been quoted in multiple national publications.
