The Mountain Area Health Education Center, also known as MAHEC, serves health care professionals, students and institutions in more than 15 counties in western North Carolina. It offers education, information, technology, research and training services. The center also provides residency programs. The Mountain Area Health Education Center is a member of the North Carolina AHEC system. In addition, it offers continuing education and fellowship training programs. The center provides clinical services and operates the North Carolina Center for Health and Aging. The Mountain Area Health Education Center additionally operates an online library and offers housing programs. It operates the Family Health Center, Dental Health Center and Women's Health Center.
