General Info

After 32 years in service at Sonoma State University, as their Piano Technician, I retired Nov 6, 2020. With an inventory of over 85 pianos it kept me busy! Besides tuning, I re-strung and replaced hammers and actions of over 15 piano, and did all the tuning, prep and voicing for the many concerts. I served the Center for Performing Arts, which includes the Music, Theater & Dance Departments. After dabbling in pianos for a couple years, I started formal training in 1974 as a piano technician at the Piano Organ Warehouse in Santa Rosa. Under the tutelage of James Davis, RPT, we re-built pianos for about 8 years, and I worked there for 17 years there, until a change of ownership. For 3 years I managed piano service and sales at Marin Music Center in Novato. I also commuted 3 days a week and tuned pianos for another piano technician in Contra Costa County From 1996-2005 I operated my own piano store in Santa Rosa with Kawai as my featured brand. With over 45 years experience, I have built long lasting relationships with many clients, and still accept new clients. I've been a Registered Piano Technician in the Piano Technicians Guild since 1984. For 13 years I worked for the Santa Rosa Symphony at the Luther Burbank Center, until their move to Weill Hall, Green Music Center, at SSU. I still tune for the SR Symphony Pops performances at the Luther Burbank Center, as well as all performances using the SR Symphonies' 9' Hamburg Steinway piano, located at the Luther Burbank Center. For over 15 years I have tuned the piano for all performances at the Berger Center in Oakmont. Services include tuning, regulation, and tone voicing. Rebuilding services include new strings, hammers, and complete new piano actions. Performance and concert services. Estimates & appraisals available as well. I'm willing to help people who are searching for a piano by phone and email at no cost. I want you to get a decent piano that fits your needs and budget!
