Established in 1964, Jackson Transportation Authority is a public transportation provider within Jackson County in Michigan. The company provides fixed route, demand response and contractual services to all residents of the county. In addition, it also acts as the Greyhound and Western Union Agent for Jackson. Apart from the traditional services, it also offers many special community related programs, such as Reserve-A-Ride, Ride and Shop, Advertising Bus program and special programs for the disabled people. The authority covers 1,453,228 miles around Jackson and Jackson County. The organization is recognized by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
