George Welch Elementary School is a nonprofit, state-run educational institution that provides academic programs to more than 475 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Its core curriculum includes fine and performing arts, music, English, math, science, life skills, social studies, and physical and special education. In addition, George Welch Elementary School conducts classes for gifted and talented students and offers special education. Located in West Monroe, La., the school also provides health care, transportation, meal and counseling services to the students. George Welch Elementary School is a part of the Ouachita Parish School District, which operates nearly 35 schools with a total annual enrollment of over 18,500 students.
