A native of Incheon, South Korea, and current resident of Chicago, USA, Jiwon Sun is an active soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player in the United States and South Korea. Sun began her violin studies at the age of seven. At eighteen, she made her debut as a soloist with Seoul Prime Philharmonic. She holds a bachelor's degree from the New England Conservatory, a master's degree from the Yale School of Music. Sun recently earned a doctorate degree from the University of Southern California, where she majored in music education and violin performance with minors in orchestral conducting and viola performance. Sun studied with Glenn Dicterow, the longtime concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic.
