The Boulder County Sheriff s Department s Patrol Section is part of the department s field operations. The section provides law enforcement and peacekeeping services to the unincorporated areas of Boulder County and the towns of Superior and Lyons. The Boulder County Sheriff s Department s primary responsibilities include providing enforcement of laws that relate to crimes against persons and property, as well as initiating investigations into such crimes. It also enforces codes and ordinances pertaining to traffic and parking. In addition, the department participates in programs that are geared toward community awareness and crime prevention. The sheriff s department maintains records and compiles reports regarding emergency calls, types of reported crimes and offender registrations.
