General Info
Cleveland Clinic Cancer Care at ARMC offers this area's only dedicated cancer treatment facility. In many cases, treatment can be done on-site, meaning you can stay close to home and close to family. Cancer is when cells in the body grow out of control. Our bodies produce cells throughout our lives. Healthy cells have a normal lifetime and will destroy themselves to make room for new cells. Cancer cells do not have a lifetime. They grow and overcome the healthy cells. Cancer can develop in any organ or tissue. The three most common cancers for men in the United States are prostate cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer. The three most common cancers in women are breast cancer, colon cancer and lung cancer. Tests for diagnosing cancer include blood tests, biopsies, x-rays, CT scans and MRI scans. Treatment options include surgical removal of cancerous cells, diet and lifestyle changes, chemotherapy, and radiation. Usually treatment involves a combination of several of these treatments – Chemotherapy, Hematology & Oncology.
