We are extremely grateful to RJ at A1 Car, Cab and Van for driving to West Kingston train station in the middle of the night to pick up our son and get him to Roger Williams University after a 2 hour delayed arrival on Amtrak. He put our minds at ease, as well as my son's journey. We will definitely make reservations with A1 again in the future.
If I could pick no stars, I would. The most unprofessional and terrible service I've ever received. it is disappointing seeing that other people have had great experiences; as I did not have the pleasure of a good experience. I do not know the name of the man that drove me, but I do know that he is the owner. He screamed at me when I called him saying that I didn't see his car because I misunderstood which door he was going to pick me up at (there were four). He then proceeded to insult me both personally and professionally, saying that if I had listened to his directions he wouldn't have to yell at me, blaming me for his temper tantrum. When I requested a refund, he told me I didn't deserve it and that I lead a sheltered life if I am bothered by his yelling. Not only that, but he continued to insult me by saying that if I have time to ask for a refund, that I don't have my priorities straight, and that I do not deserve to represent my country (I am active duty military, recently returning from a deployment). I have never in my life experienced such a lack in professionalism and total disregard for customer service. I am in tears writing this: I have never been so personally and professionally insulted in my life. Do not use this company.
The previous reviews are completely correct. I had exactly the same experience as Dave 1274, having come up from New York and used A-1 to get to and from the beautiful AMTRAK station in Kingston, Rhode Island to Newport. A completely professional operation, and the owner, RJ, is wholly entertaining, in addition to being wonderfully reliable. The five stars are well-deserved.

I agree with the level of professionalisma and service of this Cab company. Being form New York you never know if you will leave the cab ride alive, nevermind getting to your destination. LOL I called A1, and not only got to my destination safely and promptly, but the driver knew everything imaginable about Newport. It was a Cab Ride and a fun experience!!
I would definitely recommend this company when in Newport.
Best service I have ever received in the Newport/ Middletown area by far, the drivers are polite, courteous and know the area very well, the vehicle are clean and well maintained, I would highly recommend them to anybody looking to get to ���Downtown Newport��� for a fair price
