Hiking, climbing, and camping were foreign concepts to Jerry Funk, along with the word 14er. At the age of 48, Jerry climbed his first 14er (14,000? to 15,000? mountain), and soon had mountain-blood flowing through his veins. He was told there were 54 14ers in Colorado, and that more people had climbed Mount Everest then had climbed all 54 14ers in Colorado. Whether that?s true or not, Jerry began climbing 14ers and soon had a fan club cheering him on. As his journey progressed, he discovered that he really had to climb 55 14ers, thus creating a minor count controversy. He maintains that, If you haven't climbed 55, you haven't climbed them all!? 14er Fan Club is an exciting, humorous, thrilling adventure story that describes Jerry's journey, as he meets new hiking buddies, develops new climbing skills, and narrowly escapes the call of death on his quest to climb all 55 Colorado 14ers.
