- Located in Northwest Louisiana, 75 miles southeast of Shreveport; 265 miles northwest of New Orleans. To reach Natchitoches from Shreveport, take I-49 south to exit 148 (Powhatten/Allen) and head toward Powhatten. From New Orleans, take I-10 west to Lafayette. Here take I-49 north to exit 148 (Powhatten/Allen) and head toward Powhatten. Once on the road to Powhatten, there will be signs leading you right to us.
