- Dental CareNassau Veterinary Clinic is a leader in the field of veterinary dentistry. Our veterinary dental team consists of Dr. Rose Broglio and licensed technicians, Jeannine Leonard and Tracy Kim (TK) Coons. Dr. Rose was mentored by Dr. Philips, a Fellow in Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, who performed advanced dentals for 20yrs at NVC, and now does extensive dental procedures routinely.
- VaccinationWe realize that routine checkups, preventative care, vaccinations, and medical care of well, sick, or injured pets must be convenient and timely for owners. A full staff of veterinarians, licensed technicians, assistants, training and behavior experts, and groomers are regularly available at Nassau Veterinary Clinic for our clients’ convenience. We believe this is of the utmost importance to support owners as they strive to ensure that their pets receive care when they need it.
- Behavioral CounselingNassau Veterinary Clinic provides the full spectrum of geriatric veterinary care for dogs, cats, and other household pets, from semiannual examinations to behavior consultations to end-of-life care. Established in 1937, we are one of the oldest animal hospitals in New York, and we are proud to offer gentle, effective veterinary care to patients of all shapes and sizes.
- Nutritional CounselingIf you notice any of these signs in your pet, schedule an appointment with Nassau Veterinary Clinic for a dental checkup. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent more serious problems down the road.
- Comprehensive ExaminationOur preventative veterinary care begins with a thorough physical examination of your pet. This can help us get a better picture of your pet’s current condition based on every key body part and system. We can combine the results of this exam with your pet’s medical history and any pre-existing conditions, your observations, and more, to create a fully customized medical plan for your pet.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlProtect your pet and family from flea and tick infestations, dermatitis secondary to allergies, and serious, sometimes fatal, infectious diseases that can be transmitted by them. Fleas and ticks are easy to prevent, and we can help. Each of our products are medically approved, safe, and guaranteed to help protect your family.
- Pain ManagementThe veterinarian uses an individual sterile surgical pack of instruments for each patient. During anesthesia, a trained Licensed Veterinary Technician closely monitors your pet with a pulse oximetry machine that measures heart rate and the percent of oxygen in the bloodstream. NVC uses technologically advanced anesthetics (such as Telezol, Propofol, and sevoflurane) as well as pain management recommendations that allow for safer induction and recovery of your pet.
- Intestinal Foreign Object Removal
- Anal Gland Infection TreatmentOur dog grooming services include a bath (with shampoo tailored to your pet’s needs), conditioner, trimming or clipping, fluff dry, brush and de-shedding, nail trim, and ear cleaning. Anal gland expression will be done upon request.
- Heart Disease TreatmentWith ultrasound, we can examine and measure internal organs or tumors, diagnose pregnancy, and take biopsies of major internal organs by using ultrasound as a guide. Thoracic ultrasounds give the doctor important information on the functioning of the heart. This is especially important for pets with suspected congenital heart problems or heart failure. Often, the major organs in the abdomen are given an ultrasound to obtain additional information that an x-ray alone can't provide. This procedure gives the doctor an active view of the organs. We commonly view the bladder, kidneys, spleen, liver, adrenal glands, stomach, and pancreas on an abdominal ultrasound.
- Periodontal Disease TreatmentPets with periodontal disease or abscessed teeth have oral pain just as people do, although by nature they may not show pain as people do. What’s more, current research shows that pets with a dental infection have higher rates of kidney, liver, heart, and lung disease. This statistic is extremely important to the well-being of your pet. Why? Because bacteria from your pet’s mouth can travel throughout the body, lodging in these organs causing serious symptoms and diseases.
- Cancer TreatmentProperly diagnosing your pet’s condition is the first step to promoting his or her overall health and well-being. As Nassau veterinarians with considerable training and experience in ultrasound technology, as well as specialties such as geriatric care, cancer treatment, and more, we can find out what’s going on and offer our insight regarding treatment options. We believe in educating pet owners so they can make the right choices about their loved ones.
- Wound and Fracture Care
- Dental Surgery
- Ophthalmic Surgery
- Veterinary SurgeryPatients benefit greatly from these methods, as there is less recovery time. For example, a patient having exploratory surgery to search for an abdominal tumor may take days in the hospital to recover whereas patients being assessed with ultrasound would likely be home with their owners the same day.
- Laser Surgery
- Spaying and NeuteringSurgery offers an effective form of treatment for certain serious injuries and medical conditions, but any procedure can present risks. If your pet needs surgery, you want to choose a veterinarian you can trust. At Nassau Veterinary Clinic, we provide the highest standard of surgical services, from standard neutering or spaying to complex, advanced procedures. We do it all in a friendly environment where you and your pet can feel safe and supported.
- Laboratory ServicesNassau Veterinary Clinic offers its patients the speed and convenience of a state-of-the-art, in-house laboratory. Many tests can be run quickly, giving the veterinarian valuable information during the course of an appointment. Instead of waiting around for test results, you can get the answers you need.
- X-RayIf an examination or clinical history of your pet suggests a heart disorder, the first diagnostic step usually includes chest x-rays and an electrocardiogram, which may be referred to as an ECG or EKG. An ECG can be done quickly and easily during your visit to provide the doctor with information to best help your pet. In some cases, these tests will provide enough information to arrive at a diagnosis. In other cases, a cardiac ultrasound may be necessary to identify the disorders within the heart chambers themselves.
- Dental RadiologyX-rays play a key role in diagnosing illnesses and injuries. With them, we can see what lies hidden below the surface of the skin. Nassau Veterinary Clinic is equipped with both a conventional x-ray machine and a special dental x-ray unit for oral radiography.
- MicrochippingMicrochipping offers a safe and easy way to ensure your pet can be identified and returned to you, even if he or she is without a collar and ID tag. Each microchip has a unique identification number, which can be scanned by an animal control officer, veterinarian, or shelter if a pet is lost or its ownership is in question. If the microchip is properly registered, it will bring up the information of the rightful owner.
- BoardingIf we need to keep your pet overnight or for several days, such as after an advanced surgical procedure or for monitoring, you can rest assured that we will provide the love, attention, and medical care they need to experience the best possible stay. We also offer boarding services for healthy pets, if you are going out of town and need someone to care for your pet.
- GroomingOur cat grooming services include a brush, and nail trim, or you can ask for the fashionable “lion cut.” For our long-haired feline friends, the lion cut gives your cat relief from painful, unsightly mats and the summer heat!
