Toyos Clinic was established in 1998 when Dr. Rolando Toyos was recruited by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to staff a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Jackson, Tennessee. Dr. Toyos was responsible for eye care at the NICU for 10 years and served as the Medical Director of the Jackson Madison Surgery Center. He opened a clinic in Memphis when the Memphis Grizzlies asked him to be the team's ophthalmologist.Melissa Toyos, MD was recruited by one the largest ophthalmology practices in the country, Discover Vision in Kansas City where she became the first and only female partner. She became a partner in Toyos Clinic in 2014.
