- Primary CareHealth Talents International is a nonprofit group that operates around 30 primary care and dental clinics throughout Guatemala, as well as a surgical hospital in the coastal area of the country. In total, the clinics see around 50,000 people every year. Dr. Jeffrey Bennie’s continuous involvement with this group has allowed him to be named as the chairman of the medical surgical committee.
- ObstetricsUSAP-Tennessee incorporates an anesthesia care team model including CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) providing quality care under the close medical direction of an Anesthesiologist (a medical doctor). A care team model provides flexibility in the obstetric service by minimizing wait times for labor epidurals.
- Labor and DeliveryUSAP-Tennessee provides epidural analgesia for labor, as well as spinal and epidural (regional) anesthesia for both elective and emergency Cesarean sections (c-section) as well as support for high-risk deliveries. Although general anesthesia is also an option for c-sections, most often a safer regional anesthesia technique allows patients to be pain free and awake during childbirth.

- UltrasoundNerve Block is a type of anesthetic that is performed by injecting local anesthetic through a small needle next to a nerve or group of nerves, often using ultrasound guidance.
- Vascular SurgeryOur team of cardiac anesthesiologists provides anesthesia for all open-heart procedures such as coronary artery bypass and valvular repairs done most often under cardiopulmonary bypass (using the heart-lung machine). In addition, our expertise in intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (including 3D TEE) helps guide our surgical colleagues in their clinical decision making, and with valvular repairs and replacements allows us to evaluate the function of the new valve before the patient leaves the operating room.
- Hip ReplacementBlock is a type of anesthetic that is performed by injecting a very small amount of local anesthetic through a very small needle into the spinal fluid around the spinal cord. This is done in the low back where the nerves are least vulnerable to injury. Spinal anesthesia is frequently used for procedures such as knee or hip replacement, Cesarean sections, foot or leg surgery, or surgery on the lower abdomen. Sedation is generally provided for patient comfort during the surgery.
- Knee Replacement“The pain pump was totally amazing—the difference was unreal. With the knee replacement I had to manage keeping the pain meds in my system continuously. They made me feel terrible! I felt like a zombie, all cloudy headed and constipated—just miserable. After six weeks I finally got some relief. Dr. Friedman placed the pain pump in my knee when I had ankle fusion surgery. I was extremely well pleased with how it all went, I’ve had both knees replaced, the first one in my 40’s and it was terribly painful... So, I really didn’t know what to expect—other than to prepare to be miserable. But, the pain pump changed everything! I’d recommend AMG to anyone.”
