On Friday afternoon, 9/1/17, my wife suggested I head to the Mystic Market for one of our weekly trips for prepared dinner. When I got to the Mystic Market West, I was one of maybe 7 customers placing orders. There were 2 young ladies taking & preparing orders while being directed by a gentleman who appeared to be the person in charge. One young lady wrote down my order which consisted of 5 items, asked my name, after which I moved up to the front of the store and took a seat. After about 30 minutes, as customers were coming and going, I made my way up to the register area where I encountered the young lady who had taken my order. She told me the slip had gone missing, none of the 5 items had even been started, and she needed to rewrite the orderall the while, other customers who came after me were being served and sent on their way. After giving my order a 2nd time, I approached the in charge gentleman who quickly said that the slip had been lost, and they were working on it right now(which they were not), and that there would be no charge. I watched as they continued serving other customers when they all should have been tending to my missing order. After about 15-20 minutes longer, I was called over to the register as my items were being bagged, and told the charge was $23+. I mentioned that the in charge guy told me there was no charge. He recanted, and said he could only give me 1 of the 5 items at no charge. Having worked in the restaurant business for 40 years, I understand poor customer service when I see it. I also know Charles(the owner) personally, and understand that good help is hard to find. The bottom line, as far as I am concerned, is that the promise of no charge after losing a customers order, and then making them wait 50 minutes while you continue to serve other customers, and then recant on your no charge statement, is despicable. Unfortunately for us, all business with the Mystic Markets will cease, and unfortunately for them, this story will be told over and over.
