I have been coming to this establishment for many years. And yes it is not a 5 star hotel, but the view from my window of the bay and the REAL fireplace, makes it all worthwhile. Bathroom is clean, bed is comfortable, and my wife and I can make as many REAL fires in the fireplace. Non of this gas fireplace whimpy stuff.

I recently stayed at The Inn a Mystic whose owner apparently has greatly enhanced the lodging and dining facilities. The Inn is located on a spacious and scenic waterfront property that includes a mansion undergoing renovation. I enjoyed a comfortable fireplace room -- newly furnished and neatly maintained -- that overlooked the water. The restaurant, The Flood Tide, featured fine dining, excellent service and a gorgeous view. I had the pleasure of meeting several congenial staff members -- including the Manager (Enoch) the the Head Chef (Dennis) who went out of their way to ensure my dining experience was everything I expected. I strongly recommend The Inn at Mystic.

We checked in without a reservation and were very pleased. The room was tastefully decorated, clean and well appointed. The property is on the highest point in Mystic, with scenic views in all directions. It's also close to town and Mystic Seaport. We ate several meals in their restaurant, the Flood Tide, and found the menu, quality of meals and service to be superb. We recommend the hotel highly.

First, due to a travel glitch, we arrived at 9 PM, not having eaten since breakfast, just as their Flood Tide restaurant was closing. The host graciously opened up for us and we dined in solitary splendor on exquisite food. Hunger may be the best sauce, but when we went back the next night we were just as wowed: toasted almond shrimp, a great cod/potato dish and chicken penne. (The Inn's complimentary full breakfast also is served there, and very good.) The Inn, set back from town, is charming, and the staff at both places are wonderful. We loved our cheerful canopy bed, peaceful water view, and working fireplace (wood supplied). Only caveat: these antique bed's mattresses are high off the floor (4'), and though a step stool is provided under the bed, those with mobility trouble may wish to ask if they also have lower beds [- a question I can't answer.

This was our second visit to this property & nothing had changed. We were greeted by a warm welcome from the woman at the front desk. Our accommodations were beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We chose the Eastwing & the view was outstanding. The property itself sets on a hillside & overlooks a harbor. The grounds are lovely, offering gardens, a pond, and a small waterfall. We enjoyed sitting on chairs & basking in the scenery. The breakfast was also very good & the service was warm & friendly. We highly recommend this inn!
