AlaSafe.gov is a secure government website and is available as a free service. www.AlaSafe.gov is designed, maintained, and operated under the authority of the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center. Muscle Shoals Police Department partners with the University of North Alabama Public Relations class to annually host a community appreciation day. Community Appreciation Day gives the officers of the Muscle Shoals Police Department a chance to give back to the community. It allows the officers to interact with the community and to get to know those that they serve. At Community Appreciation Day, there are several fun activities for kids to participate in. There are games and prizes, local entertainment and free food. Muscle Shoals Police Department provides finger printing services exclusively to the citizens of the city and individuals seeking employment within the business district of Muscle Shoals. This service is provided at no cost and is available on Wednesday's from 10: 00am until noon. Individuals must provide their own finger print cards. The concept of the Community Mental health Officer came about when several advocacy groups such as National Alliance Mentally Ill (NAMI) /Shoals, Mental Health Courts and Probate Judges saw a need to have a law passed to develop a program to divert the mentally ill from jail to a mental health facility. - family members of the mentally ill request Community Mental Health Officer - most patients are taken to a Mental Health facility rather than to jail. Fund raising events include cook-outs, car washes, and yard sales. The City has received numerous awards for their generous support of the Relay For Life program.
