Founded in 1981 as Lynnwood Mortgage Corporation, Golf Savings Bank is one of the Pacific Northwest's most successful mortgage lenders. Golf Savings opened in the spring of 2000 after converting from Lynnwood Mortgage. In 1981, Chairman Charles Ainslie started Lynnwood Mortgage with just three employees and a small office. The company grew steadily. Riding the highs and lows of the economy, Lynnwood Mortgage made money every year, becoming one of the most successful mortgage banks in the Pacific Northwest. By 2005, Golf Savings Bank ranked as Washington State s fifth-largest mortgage lender, securing more than $1.5 billion in loans. In 2004, the American Banking Association s Banking Journal ranked Golf Savings as the eighth-best-performing bank in the country. The bank is based in Mountlake Terrace, Wash.
