General Info
Dr. Susan Connor has been practicing in Mountlake Terrace since 1989, and in the Seattle area since she got her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois. She developed her expertise with exotic animals by working at a number of zoos, including Brookfield Zoo in Chicago and Como Zoo in Minnesota, before moving to Washington, and was a relief veterinarian at Woodland Park Zoo for 10 years. Dr. Connor has a special interest in reproduction, dermatology, internal medicine, and geriatrics. She has broadened her traditional Western medical knowledge by studying a number of alternative healing techniques over the past few years and has had great success integrating them into her practice to provide better care for all her patients. Dr. Connor's background in exotic animal medicine has provided her with extensive experience working with birds, reptiles, amphibians, and pocket pets. She has served on the board of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and is the registered agent for the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. She has been President of the Snohomish Veterinary Medical Association for the past 10 years. Dr. Connor's experience with large animal and zoo medicine influences her practical, "do no harm" approach to treating her patients. Dr. Connor tries not to just treat symptoms, but to find the cause of the problem. Preferring to begin with non-invasive, non-painful, inexpensive approaches to a problem, she focuses on factors such as nutrition and environment, especially when evaluating chronic problems, or when giving second opinions.
