- ColonoscopyOur providers at RWC care about you and your health; making a yearly exam is one of the most important things a woman can do to ensure good overall health and wellness. This is a time she can discuss specific concerns and review essential topics with her provider, including breast health, sexual health, contraception, menstrual cycle and associated symptoms, perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, bone health, and diet and exercise. This visit will also be a time for a complete physical exam and appropriate screening tests, including cervical cancer screening (a PAP smear which may include an HPV test), STD screening, and lab tests – all done in-house. Depending on your age and/or symptoms, you may also receive an order for a screening mammogram, bone density scan, or colonoscopy at an annual exam.

- Urinary IncontinenceA hormone secreted primarily by the ovaries and the adrenal glands and stored in fat cells from puberty until menopause. It is responsible for multiple functions throughout the body, making the extreme fluctuations in a woman’s estrogen level through her childbearing years and the perimenopausal period (months to years before menopause). It is also responsible for the dramatic decrease in estrogen levels at menopause, the cause of most symptoms and detrimental health effects women suffer from. Estrogen protects against heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, and memory disorders. It also protects against vaginal atrophy, urinary incontinence, and UTIs. Adequate estrogen provides adequate temperature regulation (prevents hot flashes and night sweats), mood stability, and increased libido. Optimized estrogen levels have the ability to...

The center feature of this practice was the in-house surgery center, which enables women to have minimally invasive procedures in the comfort of a familiar setting at a much reduced time and cost of hospital surgery.

- HypothyroidismHashimoto’s thyroiditis is a form of hypothyroidism that is autoimmune in nature. As the result of particular trigger(s), your immune system produces antibodies that attack your thyroid. This immune attack on the thyroid causes a decline in thyroid function. Since the thyroid plays a role in over 300 functions in the body and we have thyroid receptor cells on every single cell in the body, this most often results in a multitude of symptoms and imbalances (poor digestion, nutrient insufficiencies, weight gain, and the inability to lose weight) that can affect your brain (mood, energy, cognitive function), your GI tract (acid reflux, pain, diarrhea, constipation), your skin (rashes, eczema), and your joints (pain, inflammation).

- UltrasoundThis procedure allows Drs. Rhett and Smith to see inside the uterus. A skinny, lighted tube is inserted into the vagina and then into the uterine cavity through the cervix. Viewing the uterus through hysteroscopy gives a more complete, real-time analysis of an abnormality that may have been identified on ultrasound. Depending on your symptoms and the findings in the uterus, a patient may undergo an endometrial biopsy (a sampling of the cells inside the uterus), a D & C (removal/scraping of the inside of the uterus), or both.
- Minimally Invasive SurgeryDr. Smith has practiced in Mt. Pleasant since 1986. He has privileges at Roper St. Francis and East Cooper Medical Center. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery and alternative procedures to hysterectomy. He is experienced in all areas of gynecologic care, including menopausal treatment, hormone replacement therapy, and weight management. He has also been trained and is experienced in aesthetic procedures, including Botox and Juvederm.
- HysterectomyAn incision is made at the top of the vagina, blood vessels are disconnected, and the uterus is removed through the vagina. * Abdominal hysterectomies in which a small incision is made in the abdomen, and the uterus is removed with an enlarged uterus or suspected scar tissue. This is due to a higher risk of infection and longer recovery time.

- LaparoscopyA laparoscopy is a thin, lighted tool with a camera inserted through a small incision around the navel, allowing the doctor to see the pelvic organs on a screen. This can be done for diagnosis as well as treatment. For example, scar tissue and ovarian cysts can be removed.

- Body ContouringIf you are thinking about getting body contouring, then you should try EvolveX at Rhett Women’s Center Aesthetics in Mount Pleasant, SC. In the sea of body contouring options, Evolve X stands out as a triple threat. Combining FDA-approved Radio Frequency (RF) fat destruction with collagen production to tone and tighten, EvolveX transforms the body quickly and affordably.
- Cosmetic SurgeryThe Ultherapy® procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer typically addressed in cosmetic surgery—without cutting or disrupting the skin’s surface. Unlike lasers, radiofrequency, surgery, and other technologies, non-surgical Ultherapy bypasses the skin’s surface to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the correct depths and the right temperature. This energy triggers a natural response under the skin, initiating the regenerative process of new collagen.
- Skin CancerPatients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing the risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also slow the aging process.
