Established in 1972, Ida A. Rankin Elementary School has an enrollment of more than 700 students in prekindergarten through grade five. Its staff includes regular teachers, guidance counselors, media specialists, social workers and teaching assistants. The school offers a variety of academic and enrichment programs. It also conducts book fairs, Christmas parades, field trips and parent conferences. Located in Mt. Holly, N.C., Ida A. Rankin Elementary School is a part of Gaston County Schools, which operates more than 50 educational facilities that include elementary, intermediate, middle, high, alternate and special schools. The district serves over 33,000 students and has nearly 4,500 employees.
