We pulled our child out a few months ago. Had issues with staff turnover and a few other items. My advice is to always check the WI daycare licensing and read the violations. They seem to have a lot of them and some are serious. I guess I should have listened more to my child when they were upset.

All weekend long all I ever hear is Miss Kim, Miss Kim. My child adores her. She has told me she wants to move in with her. I don't think she has ever had a teacher that has made this impact on her. She is awesome with a bubbly personality. She really likes the kids and loves her job. What a wonderful addition to the all ready great staff at Story Book. So glad my son will have her in a few years.

We are so impressed with the care our daughter gets in the infant room. I love walking in at night and seeing Miss Candy with the babies. She is so sweet and gentle. We are so lucky to have our precious baby watched by such great and caring people.

We are having our 1st baby in Feb. After checking out the great reviews we knew that this would be a great fit for us. We toured last week and are not disappointed. What a wonderful place. The infant room teachers, Jean and Candy are outstanding. So warm and kind, just what a nervous 1st time Mom needs. They have so much patience, which is big on my list. The room has so many great toys, some I have never seen anywhere. Great that they have so many they rotate them out. The whole center is lovely and Melissa was kind about answering all my questions. I am confident my daughter will receive top notch care here. I am so lucky to have stumbled onto this board, thanks for the review it really made our decision so easy. I even talked to people out in the parking lot and they all said how much they love Story Book, which is probably the best recommendation I could have. It puts my mind at ease to know my daughter will be loved, safe and well cared for while we are at work. Meg

I see there was already a review about teachers leaving, but I wanted to add that I, too, am getting suspicious. I just heard of another teacher quitting! I get that staff members come and go in every business, but there have been several great teachers that have left around the same time.

Our kids are at Key to Life and we just want to say how lucky you are to get Miss Vicki. She was wonderful to our kids, they became her own. She loves the 1 yr olds and she will be a great addition to your staff. If only your center was closer to us but we live in Weston and work in Wausau. All the staff that left here to go by Story Book rave about what a wonderful place it is to work and how much they love their job and the families. We miss them. Your families will love her as much as we all did. You are so blessed to have such a quality person. We all cried when we heard she was leaving. Our loss is your gain. The joy she brings to her job, the smiles she always has, the love for kids, she is so special and all of you will soon be in love with her. We miss you and love you Vicki!!

I can not believe the review left my mosinee 18. the person being critisized was my childs teacher and she took excellent care of all those kids! I'm sad to see that she has left that place. it seems a lot of staff has left in the past month or so. this place is not what is used to be.

It is so nice walking in to pick up my child and not see that scowling woman in the baby room. She seemed like such a cold, nasty person, never fit the image of Story Book. I heard from others that she was always critical of the babies and their parents. Wouldn't pick them up if they were crying and would yell at parents that they didn't know how to raise a child. We once recommened the place to a friend who was having a baby and they toured and came back shook up by this person and went elsewhere. They hated her and how she talked to them. They felt she would not give their baby good care. I felt bad because we love the place. We never had her but I knew she gave off an unfriendly vibe. The person who took her place always has a smile for us. I might even consider having a baby now that she is gone and I can once again recommend this wonderful daycare to co-workers. Thanks Story Book for upgrading your staff, you made a great move. You really care about your families.

We adore Miss Lori in the 12-18 month room. We knew coming from Montessori she would be a great asset to Story Book and she is. You can tell she loves her job and is very attentive to the children. My child loves her and I love the care she gives. She takes such a great interest in me and my child and I know she provides the best care possible. I am so pleased that she is there. It makes going to work so much easier knowing my child is getting the best care possible.

We've only been there a few weeks but I am impressed. I didn't want my child in a center until they were 2. So once my child turned 2 we started our search. We toured a few others in the area but we kept coming back to Story Book. Miss Joy is outstanding. My child is quickly learning Spanish and I am impressed. I like that my child is only with other 2 year olds. Miss Joy knows what they need to learn and really works hard with them. In a home based daycare the ages are mixed and my child would never learn all that she is learning by being in a room with only kids her own age. So happy they had an opening, I think we got the last spot.

Excellent daycare. My 2 boys have been there for a year now. What a kind caring staff. Everyone is so friendly. Even the teachers that don't have my boys greet us with big smiles and a hello. My boys talk about them all weekend and can't wait to go back on Monday. I should get a discount since I have recommended so many others to come to this wonderful place. Next year we will have one in 4K so maybe it will be time for us to try for a little girl. We know she will be as well cared for as her brother are. They do need a bigger place, there are waiting lists for most of the rooms. I know people who are waiting months for a spot to open. But that is a sign of a great place. We are lucky to have a high quality daycare in Mosinee. Thanks for the great job.

What an outstanding daycare. We had to work on New Years Eve and some of my co-workers daycares were closed. Not mine, as usual they put the needs of their families 1st. I was so impressed with their winter concert. Held at the Creske Center they had to have close to 400 people in attendance. What a testament to their success. They also adopted families from their center and gave them a Christmas to remember. What a caring group of people. The new menus are awesome. Freshly made, whole grains and I like that they now break down the menu and identify the food program components they are meeting. If it is a fruit and grain for snack, they list the recommendation and what they are serving to meet that. Changes they have made are awesome. My daughter loves Miss Joy/Brooke and Brooke has started babysitting at night for us and some of the other families and teachers. Our family is so blessed to be part of this great program.

You can only write one review using your email so I will do it this way. It is me Lisa, we are being relocated to the Wausau area. We toured Story Book on Friday of Thanksgiving. Even thought the center was closed the owners were happy to meet us to do a tour with us. I did call 2 other centers but both declined saying they were closed that Friday. So Story Book gets high marks for being so accomodating. We spent well over 2 hours asking questions, viewing menus and we never felt like we were taking up their time. We loved it. I am very picky and feel lucky that a center of this caliber is in the area. They are moving to the food program in January. I love it. All whole grains and fresh cooked food. Very little processed. The attention to detail is so evident. They are paving a bike area in spring. They also gave us a list of places to eat for the weekend. We are so excited about our move and can't wait for our child to meet new friends.
We are being relocated to WI. When we met with my husband's new boss we asked about daycares and he said a lot of his employees use Story Book. I look on here and saw the great reviews and are excited. I have been talking back and forth with the directors about the program and it seems like what we are looking for. We have an almost 4 year old and another due in June. I like that Mosinee has a free 4K program so that narrowed down our home search. Luckily I won't need infant care until late summer since they are full. The Director is meeting with us next Saturday to take us on a tour. That gives them points for being accomodating. We are in town next weekend to house hunt. We hope to be settled in our new home and daycare by Jan 1st. I heard Miss Mandy is awesome and we can't wait to meet her. Now we will be checking reviews on restaurants and other special places in the Wausau area. We are so excited to move here. Lisa
As a board member at Story Book I am excited to announce that SBK has begun the steps to become NAEYC accredited. The paperwork has been completed and will be submitted next week. There are only 2 other centers in the area with this accredidation. I will address the food issue. Whoever wrote that processed food was served because it was cheaper obviously doesn't cook from scratch. Two boxes of Kraft Mac costs $2. That would feed 1-one year old room. Their supplier sells them 10 lbs of elbow mac for $7. You add some cheese and milk and they feed 90 children for about $10. Plus a vegetable, fruit and milk. Friday was baked french toast for breakfast. 18 eggs,2 loaves of bread and milk are the ingredients. Cost is about $5 plus fruit and milk to feed 60 breakfast. Yes the previous cook used a lot of processed foods. Since she left in April, we had a parent volunteer for a few months until we could hire the right person. Fresh is cheaper and their food budget proves that.

Sorry you are on the waiting list but you will love Miss Jean. She was wonderful with my son. He was so loved and it was all the extras that we loved. She made photo collages of his day. Her notes on his day were so detailed. He was not an easy baby and she always had time to rock him. I thought she would wear out the rocking chair making sure he was comforted. Even now when we come into the center she always stops and talks to both of us. You will adore her.
Well you didn't talk to me and I was there at the time and I am still there. I did have a problem with that teacher and there were a few more that are also gone. Yes, they have high standards and when I would come in and see teachers texting or yacking over the fence instead of interacting with my child I did have a problem. Melissa & Ellen listen and aren't afraid to make changes when staff is not up to standards. The quality is now fantastic and I applaud that the staff are gone that didn't put the kids first. Teachers belong on the playground not cleaning the room. My teacher had Miss Heather now. She is dynamic and caring. A big change from what was in the 3s before. I don't know if my child would have stayed if they didn't change up the staff. My child loves that the staff is in the homecoming and holiday parade. So many of the old staff that are gone didn't do that. I think there were over 17 walked for the Woman's shelter. We walked with them and had a blast.
We are on the waiting list for a spot here. I am due in February and they won't have an opening until June but we are willing to wait. I work with people who rave about Story Book but I also wanted to tour some other centers. The 1st one was Ok, I didn't like that the rooms were not divided better. They had half walls and I thought that would be noisy. But the staff seemed nice. The 2nd place was my old Drs office. Just didn't feel like the right fit. Miss Jean went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. She came in on her own time to meet with me. Since I could only come after 5. I love the happy notes they send out to parents. I love that they will email pics during the day. You can tell she loved babies. The other teacher is also very warm and caring. They offered to come back at night so my husband could tour. Love the pro-care system. I am hoping a spot opens up quicker but I am #11 on the list. But I will take a longer leave and dh will take time too.

I want to thank you for the great teachers you have there now. I love the 18-24 month teachers. Miss Jamie and Miss Renee are the best. It has been a long road to get the right mix in there. The teacher that was there in fall really had little interest in the children. She seemed bored and never did any projects with the kids. Love the kitchen changes. The last 6 months have really improved in quality. So much fresh stuff. I love that Ellen grew so many vegetables that have been used in breads and meals. Love, love the fresh home made breads. The staff is quality and glad that you made the changes you did. Very professional place. I know people who are on your waiting list and anxious to get in there. Heard excellent things about the upgrade in the 4K teachers. We will be here for the long haul.
