Humane Society Of The Palouse
Humane Society of the Palouse Inc
General Info
The Humane Society of the Palouse, Inc, was founded in 1978 to prevent animal cruelty, promote animal adoption, and encourage humane pet education here on the Palouse. In 1983 the HSOP built a shelter on White Avenue Extension, adjacent to the Moscow City Pound. In 1995, the City of Moscow built a new shelter at 2019 White Avenue. Both the HSOP and the "City Pound" are housed in this building which is managed by the HSOP. The HSOP is administered by an elected volunteer board of directors. These are citizens of the Palouse who are interested in animal protection, adoption, and education. These working directors donate time and experience to direct and help fund the shelter. They are elected to 3-year terms.

Provided by YP.comCares A LOT about the animals: unlike the previous posters, my experiences have been nothing completely positive.. I have adopted wonderful animals, and the staff has been glad to help me learn about each one. I have a feeling that there is something about their situation that other posters aren't telling as I have heard staff tell people that they were welcome to either bring problems to management or to the group that directs the shelter.

Provided by YP.comI agree with the other comment posted. If they were founded to promote animal adoption then why when you go in do they say that you wanting to adopt is unacceptable. Im a senior at U of I and my wife and I wanted to adopt a 6 mo old even though we were only going to be living there for another 8 months. They said that she needed stability. Since when does animal make an attachement to a house and need loving support from a house. Does not the stability come from the attachment that the owners and dog make together; a little counter intuitive if ya think about it. They were just plain old rude. Not only did they say that it was unacceptable but, they mocked us for even thinking that we could do that. Very unprofessional and extremely hypocritical, and just plain rude!
