Established in 1978, UFI supplies physiological and medical research communities with electronic instruments and accessories. Based in Morro Bay, Calif., it provides transducers, signal conditioners custom and semi-custom data recording systems, electrodes, bioamps, ambulatory data loggers, multi subject systems and test instruments to life science research and teaching fields. It also provides BAERCOM, which is a portable, hearing evaluation device for veterinary research and testing on dogs, cats, and other small- and medium-size animals. The research customers have ranged from NASA to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, which has deployed data loggers on penguins diving below the Antarctic ice.
