Established in 1739, the Morris County Sheriff s Office is a full-service law enforcement agency that serves a population of more than 490,000 citizens spread over 475 square miles. It is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), Commission on Accreditation for the American Correctional Association (ACA) and National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). The Morris County Sheriff s Office maintains a citizens police academy that provides training programs related to local laws, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, first aid and office procedures. The office supports the Crime Stoppers program, which is affiliated with the National Crime Stoppers Organization and provides opportunities for citizens to report illegal activities to volunteers of the program.
