Mental Health America in Montgomery is a United Way Agency with a purpose to develop a coordinated citizen s volunteer movement to work towards the care and empowerment of clients; education and promotion of mental health; and advocacy and services development. The organization strives for improved care and treatment of persons with mental illness, the empowerment of clients to improve and enhance the quality of their lives through friendship clubs and open door clubs. It advocates towards the public education and promotion of good mental health and early intervention, and assessment of emotional and mental disorders that are preventable. In addition, Mental Heath America in Montgomery represents on state and local committees and boards the advocacy of education and research to promote mental wellness.
