Calkins was born and raised in Monroe, Michigan. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1995, obtained his Bachelors Degree in 1999 from the University of Toledo, and his law degree in 2002 from the University of Toledo College of Law. Mr. Calkins then obtained his Michigan State Bar License and began his legal career in his hometown in 2002. Prior to private practice he worked a legal intern in the Monroe County Prosecutors Office. He has always maintained his own office, serving as both an attorney and owner.Mr. Calkins, in his spare time, has devoted hundreds of hours to his community. He currently serves as a member of the City of Monroe Recreation Advisory Commission, as well as the Monroe County Compensation Commission. Mr. Calkins has also coached the Monroe Junior Boilermakers for the Monroe First Downers Junior Football League since 2003.Jarod Calkins has substantial experience in all areas of trial litigation, including numerous jury trials and bench trials.
