Matthew Fowlkes, DMD, MD was born in Amory, MS. He graduated from Amory High School and then attended Mississippi State University. Dr. Fowlkes graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Fowlkes attended dental school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. After graduating dental school he started medical school and his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in New Orleans at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. After graduating from medical school Dr. Fowlkes completed an internship in general surgery at LSUHSC. During Dr. Fowlkes' last year or residency he served as chief resident of OMFS and married his wife Krista. Once residency was completed Dr. Fowlkes took a position with Oral Surgery associates of Northeast Louisiana in Monroe, LA and Ruston, LA. Dr. Fowlkes enjoys practicing all aspects of oral surgery. He performs dentoalveolar and implant surgeries in both of his offices. He enjoys treating pathology as well as cosmetic and dentofacial deformities. Many of these surgeries are performed at one of the hospitals he as privileges, St. Francis, P&S, and Monroe Surgical. Dr. Fowlkes also has a passion for trauma surgery after spending six years treating a multitude of trauma patients in New Orleans. Outside of work Dr. Fowlkes enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his 3 young sons. Dr. Fowlkes also enjoys watching MSU and LSU sporting events of all kinds.
