Hematology & Oncology of Northeast Georgia, located in Athens, Ga., is a health care clinic that remains operational from Monday through Friday. It provides various services and programs, including Loran Smith Center for cancer support program, community care for adults and disabled persons, private duty nursing and hospice care to patients and families with terminal illness. The center also provides home health care that includes nursing services; nursing aids to assist with baths and personal care; physical therapists; homemaker companions; and social workers. It accepts private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid provisions. Its clinical trails include tests, side effects, therapies and drug indications on treatments related to breast, lung, pancreatic, ovarian and colon cancer. The center offers transportation facility to patients through its association with various organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, Athens Community Council on Aging, Jackson County Transport, Managed Medical Transport and Air Trek. Hematology & Oncology of Northeast Georgia is affiliated with the Medical College of Georgia.
