St. James Academy, located in Monkton, Md., is a coeducational parish Episcopal school that was established in 1821. The academy provides academic and religious educational programs to students in grades kindergarten through eight. It addresses the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development needs of the children. The school s academic curriculum includes English, math, language arts, science, social studies and foreign languages with a choice in French, Spanish and Latin. Additionally, it organizes various extracurricular activities, such as art, music, drama, dance, science fair and field trips. The academy has a library that provides religious and curriculum books, literary sources and access to the Internet. St. James Academy also provides various sports activities for its students, including soccer, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, golf and tennis. The academy is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education and is accredited by the Association of Maryland Independent Schools.
