Founded in 1924, Hereford Volunteer Fire Company offers fire assistance and emergency care services. Its equipment includes trucks, engines, pumpers, crew cabs, tankers, rescue and brush vehicles, water tanks and various utility vehicles. The company has more than six fire line officers and also features apparatus, such as Hoover Dodge, International Howe, American LaFrance, Jeep Brush Unit and Mack Pumper. Hereford Volunteer Fire Company also provides thermal imaging cameras, tower ladders, forestry hoses, baskets, radio sets, pumps and chain saws. The company organizes wedding, reunion, birthday and reception parties. It maintains an optimist club and provides entertainment books. Hereford Volunteer Fire Company is a member of the Baltimore County Volunteer Fireman's Association and the Maryland State Fireman's Association.
