My 82 year old had been at Heritage Woods for about 6 months. She was living on her bnb own but needed a little extra care and support but isn'tin a condition requiring a full on nursing home. . She was on an extremely limited income and this place has income based options. She has a lovely 1 bedroom apartment with a nice private bathroom and kitchen. The staff is caring and friendly. She has activity options but has always been more of a homebody. The on-site salon is great, they provide weekly laundry service and housekeeping, three meals and two snacks each day. She tells us all of the time how much she likes it there and we feel good knowing she has the extra help we can't provide.

Considering the exorbitant monthly rent, ie, $3,000-$3,500 for a studio or 1 bedroom, respectively, there are many better choices out there that will not devour one's life savings in a matter of month's. Unless one is in a position of needing nursing home care, and desiring a very limited amount of freedoms, or choices (the facility makes decisions and choices FOR you, then certainly avoid here at ALL costs. Furthermore, this is a state regulated facility, which means that they require you to give up or spend everything you have, placing in a welfare position, wholly dependent upon the graciousness of the facility and its staff. Defined, your life and everything about it are under their control. That, to many is extremely frightening. The local yellow pages is the best place to find a good quality facility, apartment, or even a realtor for those in search of purchasing a home, and wanting to maintain their quality of life which includes the freedom to choose who stays over, when, and how long they stay. Freedom to decide to redecorate your home, ie, paint, wallpaper, add a sunroom, and whatever else a free person chooses to do themselves. It would be nice to have something left over to pass down to ones children, family, etc., that the facility hasn't forced you to give up under the guise of the states regulations.
