The credit union I was going through to refinance my home used Bergrens Appraisal. After viewing my full basement, Bergrens reported that I had a crawlspace. In his appraisal, there was no mention of the new plumbing, new furnace, new deck, new overhead fans, new wall texturing, and a ton of updates that he chose to ignore. He took pictures of my home that made no sense at all. For instance, I have a beautiful dining room set but he took pictures of a chair that had a laundry basket on it and labeled it the dining room. He low-balled the value of my home and then turned this whole mess in to the credit union. I I tried to call him to see if it was an honest mistake but he would not return my phone calls. In other words, I paid $300 for getting screwed over by Bergrens! In order to be in a position to re-finance my home, I was forced to borrow $20,000 from my thrift savings. Over the last 20 years, I had refinanced my home several times and never had this trouble before.
