- Teeth CleaningAt Witkowski Dental we strongly believe in preventative care for the whole family. The ADA strongly recommends adults visit the dentist every 6 months for a dental cleaning and checkup exam. At the 6 months cleanings the hygienist will remove plaque buildup and tarter that develops on and above your gum line. Over time tarter inevitably build up and only the hygienist has the tools needed to remove build up. If the tarter is left on and not removed, it will harden on your tooth surface and stain. You are also at more risk to develop periodontal disease over time. Leaving hardened tarter on your teeth will create a periodontal pocket leaving you at more risk to develop periodontal disease over time. Regular cleanings are also necessary to disrupt bacterial colonies that develop in gum pockets over time that have been linked to heart disease. During the exam the dentist will check for both tooth decay and periodontal disease.
- Fillings
- Resin CompositeToday we have multiple alternative options to traditional silver fillings. Depending on the specific tooth situation, we most commonly restore tooth decay by placing a composite resin filling that was introduced in the dental field in the 1960’s. The resin mixture is what we use at Witkowski Dental as a staple to fill tooth decay.
- VeneersA veneer is a restoration that typically covers the front surface of a person’s tooth. It is offered as a way to better improve a patient’s smile with a porcelain restoration. The process does require a few appointments before completion. The dentist does need to shape the teeth minimally to accept the veneer. Impressions are taken, and a few weeks is needed for the lab to create the veneers. The patient will have temporary veneers in place during the interim. At the cement appointment the dentist removes the temporaries, cleans the teeth and bonds the veneers into place.
- CrownsBruxism is a behavior people unconscious behavior that can be done awake or asleep. It is when a person grinds or clenches their teeth together. Symptoms include but are not limited to: sore jaw, flat teeth, headaches and tender facial muscles. There are preventative and corrective procedures your doctor can do depending on the severity of the bruxism. Wearing a nightguard maybe an option for some patients where others may need to crown multiple teeth due to sensitivity and cracks from the bruxing.
- Bridges
- Dental BondingThere are two types of cosmetic bonding: Resin bonding and Porcelain bonding. Resin bonding is a conservative bonding used to change shapes of teeth. This technique uses composite resin, the same material that we use to fill posterior fillings. The main difference is that in anterior bonding we use highly polishable resin that can deliver results that our patients expect.
- Restorative Dentistry

Periodontal disease stems from plaque buildup. You can prevent plaque buildup by brushing at least twice daily, flossing, and visiting your dentist twice a year for cleanings with the hygienist and exams with the doctor. Some symptoms patients experience with periodontal disease is bleeding and sore gums, bad breath, teeth that are mobile and gaps forming between teeth. - DenturesRemovable dentures are a prosthesis containing replacement teeth that can be made to fit your upper arch, lower arch or both. The base is created by a colored resin made to specifically fit the form of your gums. Adjustments made by your Dentist is expected over the course of a few weeks to a month after receiving your new dentures. After your dentures are fitted to you comfortably they will begin to feel natural to you.
- Dental ImplantsAn implant is a way to replace a missing tooth or multiple teeth. It is a surgical procedure where the Doctor prepares the site to accept the titanium dental implant body. The implant is restored in various ways to accommodate your specific situation.
- Oral Surgery
- Tooth ExtractionsYour dentist may recommend a simple extraction if your tooth is severely decayed and cannot be saved or damaged by trauma. In a simple extraction, no surgery is needed to remove the tooth. The dentist anesthetizes the area and removes the tooth by gently applying pressure and rocking the tooth out of the socket. When the tooth is removed the site begins to heal and the dentist will go replacement tooth options for the area.
