Incorporated in 1911, Modesto & Empire Traction Company is a family-owned and operated corporation that provides rail freight and transloading services for commercial and industrial clients throughout the Beard Industrial District in California. It specializes in the transportation of various commodities, including wine, canned goods, paper products, corn syrup, cooking oil, feeds, grains, lumber and packaging materials. The corporation maintains more than 25 miles of rail track within the Beard Industrial District. It operates an over 6,000-foot of unloading and loading tracks, as well as nearly 70-acre rail and truck transloading facility. The corporation s clients include A. B. Fabrication, Alegre Trucking, Hilmar Cheese Company, Modesto Milling, Boyett Petroleum and Canteen Vending. Modesto & Empire Traction Company is a part of Beard Land and Investment Company, which also operates Beard Land Improvement Company, 1450 Treat Blvd, 7603 St. Andrews Avenue and Camp Court.
