Evelyn Hanshaw Middle School, based in Modesto, Calif., offers classes for more than 1,000 students every year in grades seven and eight. The school is operated by Modesto City Schools. It provides instruction in a wide range of academic areas, such as reading, mathematics, science, language arts and social science. Evelyn Hanshaw Middle School also offers classes in arts, life skills, chorus, exploring technology, human relations, Spanish, band, yearbook and computers. The school provides several programs for students, including the healthy start program, mental health and student assistance programs, tutoring, and human relations and teen response intervention programs. It also provides a variety of services for students by trained counselors, library and media teachers, psychologists, resource specialists, and speech, language and hearing specialists.
