Provided by YP.comThis is one of the BEST sushi restaurant. I don't understand why people are saying they gave bad customer service. Every time I went, which is about 10 times, their service was great and their food was amazing. I highly recommend people coming here because there is a nice view of the lake, great workers, and best tasting sushi around. COME HERE. If you want sushi, you have to come to Yama Sushi on the Lake / Yama Sushi & Grill

Provided by YP.comThe sushi here was incredible. Okay, to be fair, we were here with friends who live in Mission Viejo, and the sushi chef knew them by name, and the instruction was "give us whatever is good; chef's choice." So, they had every reason to treat us well. But, even so, the sushi was amazing. Everything was unbelievably fresh and tasty. The scallop was to die for. I've never had anything quite that good. We ordered tall Saporo and Kirin and they brought them in an ice bucket to keep them cold. Nice touch. The decor is fairly casual. They have a patio area in the back where you can sit next to the lake. The night we were there it was clear and there was a full moon casting a calming reflection on the water. This would be a great spot for a casual but romantic evening (on a warm night). I'm sure we'll be back the next time we're down.

Provided by YP.comThe view of Lake Mission Viejo is gorgeous, but when the food arrives, who's looking at the view? Came in once to try the Tuesday specials for lunch, where one can try sushi by the piece, and was made a believer. The staff is attentive, at times a bit slow, but definitely worth the wait. The menu is inventive and if you've never tried mochi, sort of a Japanese ice cream, you gotta go to Yama. They offer sushi-making classes and sake tastings. Can't wait to try those, too!
