- Pediatric CareOur pediatric expertise encompasses the entire range of pediatric care, from comprehensive eye examinations to diagnosis and treatment of various medical problems.
- Primary CareAt Edina Eye we recommend a vision assessment within a day of birth. This initial test, conducted by a primary care provider, should identify any potential problems. If it is suspected the infant has a problem with vision, a more thorough examination with a pediatric ophthalmologist will be scheduled.
- GlaucomaMention of the word “glaucoma” can create anxiety, understandably driven by fear of the unknown. At Edina Eye we are experts on the complexities that make this disease so serious and demanding of world-class care. We’re also experts at helping our patients understand their condition and treatment options.
- OphthalmologyIf you sense your child has vision problems, schedule an eye appointment with an ophthalmologist. By the age of four months, babies should begin using both eyes fully. Signs of poor vision at this time include crossing of eyes, disinterest in familiar faces or age-appropriate toys, eyes that rove, and squinting. If you recognize any of these symptoms, we encourage you to call or log on for an appointment. Early detection and immediate action are essential components of successful pediatric ophthalmology.
- Macular DegenerationAge-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common eye condition and unfortunately one of the leading causes of vision loss in people over 50 years of age. Located near the center of the retina, the macula determines the quality of a person’s central vision. A healthy macula produces sharp, high-resolution vision. Macular degeneration develops when a change to the macula makes it unable to function properly. The change is typically caused by age.
- Laser Eye SurgeryAt Edina Eye you’ll receive the best, most advanced treatment in laser vision correction performed by our LASIK surgeons.
- CataractsBefore intraocular lenses (IOLs), people with cataracts or other lens issues could only wear thick, high-powered eyeglasses to regain part of their lost vision once their natural lenses were removed. Today, people with artificial lenses are often free of glasses, or require them only in low powers or for certain tasks. They’re also enjoying some of the clearest vision of their lives.
- Cataract SurgeryYour eye doctor will help determine whether you are an ideal candidate for cataract surgery. Your doctor will assess your current eye health and review your medical history to make sure you don’t have pre-existing conditions that would rule out the procedure. You don’t necessarily need surgery as soon as you discover that you have cataracts, as they can often be managed for years with glasses or contact lenses before they start to inhibit your lifestyle. Your doctor can help you determine when it becomes appropriate.
- Eye ExamPatients of Edina Eye have some 200 years of combined experience and expertise ensuring their total eye health. We diagnose and treat virtually every eye disease and condition and are proud of our stellar history of success. We also take a personal approach with our patients, encouraging them to see the same doctor regularly. We record the results of each visit and measure them against previous visits. We also follow a strict protocol during each eye examination, which further helps us measure and manage our patients’ eye health. And when we do identify a problem, we are ideally prepared to treat them.

- Diabetes Care
- Diabetic RetinopathyComplications from diabetes can cause eye diseases that lead to severe or total loss of vision. Diabetic retinopathy is the most common of these conditions and a leading cause of blindness in adults. It develops when weakened blood vessels leak blood and other fluids into the retina, swelling tissue and clouding vision. The condition is progressive and usually affects both eyes.
- Orthopedics
- BotoxBotox is a great advancement against wrinkles, especially in the hands of a medical professional who understands periocular biology and function. Because we are first and foremost a medical practice, at Lagos Aesthetics we first used Botox to treat certain nerve disorders of the eye and continue that practice today. Medical use of Botox is advanced treatment and not a procedure you’ll find performed at a medi spa. But today Lagos Aesthetics also offers Botox as a cosmetic treatment, providing our patients with a more medically sound procedure that also promises superior results because of our comprehensive understanding of the tissues and makeup of the periocular region.
- Brow LiftA brow lift describes any procedure that elevates the brows. The procedure can also include the forehead and the terms are often used interchangeably.
- Eyelid Surgery
- BlepharoplastyA blepharoplasty, also called eyelid reduction, is the removal of excess skin from the upper or lower eyelid. It is a common and highly successful procedure that can provide both a rejuvenated appearance and relief from impaired vision. At Edina Eye we have a great history of helping patients with eyelid problems and encourage you to schedule an appointment if you are having issues. We’ll verify if you have a condition and help you understand it if you do. We’ll explain your treatment options, including blepharoplasty, and help you determine if your treatment is covered by insurance or Medicare.
- Cosmetic SurgeryAreas above the eye can be treated to improve appearance and sometimes improve vision. A low or sagging brow that hoods the upper eyelid can impair a patient’s eyesight. In these instances insurance or Medicare may cover the procedure. Typically, however, these are elective procedures performed to minimize expression lines and other signs of aging. In any instance, it’s important your surgeon specializes in the eyelids, orbit, eyebrows and forehead and has also had extensive training in ophthalmic plastic reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
- Forehead LiftA forehead lift describes procedures that raise the forehead (and eyebrows) and procedures that shorten the forehead to minimize a high hairline. In both instances, lines and creases are minimized and a more youthful appearance restored.
- Skin CancerThese procedures are typically elective and not covered by insurance or Medicare. In some instances, however, previous surgeries, skin cancer, and trauma can require filler treatments that are covered. Your doctor will help you understand your treatment and payment options.
