I love working out with I Love Kickboxing, Savage!! The facility is not only clean, but the staff is willing to go out of their way to make sure you get what you need and make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend ILKB Savage to any one looking for an energizing workout!

Last night was my first kickboxing experience ever. I was somewhat apprehensive because it looks intense and the posters on the front of the gym are of super fit athletes which is NOT what I am.right now. I started by buying a Groupon for $50 for 10 classes that included a free pair of gloves ($50 value). For the first class, you have to schedule an orientation 30 minutes prior to your first class. These fill up quickly as they only book up 2 or so new boxers at a time to give you a full 1:1 evaluation. In this evaluation they review your goals, experience, and really get to know you. After the 30 minute orientation, you then start the class right away. Upon arriving for my orientation, I was surprised by the shoes in the doorway. Apparently you walk around barefoot throughout the gym, which was nice when I was face planted in the mat struggling to get up from another burpee knowing that I was breathing in street grime, but only the sweat, tears and souls of my fellow boxers. During class, there are 3 instructors, 1 leading and 2 assisting. The leader will lead the class and 1 of the other instructors is then dedicated to the 2-3 new boxers to teach them the techniques, coach them, and provide support. In this class, you wont necessarily be doing the same routine as the class unless you are experienced. This was nice because some of the combos seemed complicated. The workout started out with a 15 minute warm up. Over the past 2 months I have been doing a crossfit bootcamp, and the 15 minute kickboxing warm up was equivalent to half of a crossfit bootcamp workout!! This warm up included jogging, burpees, mountain climbers, surrenders, and many more moves that I had no idea my body could do!! I watched the instructor assigned to the newbies and he looked like an over caffeinated rubberband man!! There was no way I could keep up. But then the members around me were right there encouraging me. I looked around the class and was comforted to realize that EVERYONE in the class was like me. Everyday people wanting to get healthy and were also not nearly as limber as rubberband man! That made me feel at ease instantly and the rest of the workout, while intense, hard, and if I didnt have gloves on, the instructors would seem me flipping them the bird, but I got through it, it felt good, and I cant wait to go again!!!
