DVG Fine Arts and Framing, LLC is a full service art business offering original art, archival framing, installation and custom woodworking. Woodworking projects are made from recycled or reclaimed lumber. We manufacture beautiful, lasting picture frames, funeral urns and consult on any custom project you care to dream of. I am currently working with beech and birch wood salvaged from the bottom of the Great Lakes. These trees were originally harvested between the 1700's and early 1900's. The logs were chained together into barges and floated to sawmill in the new industrial cities, but some of them would break free and sink to the bottom. Years beneath the water's surface has uniquely aged these logs staining them with minerals and bringing out incredible colors. Recycled oak, maple and cherry harvested from barns and factories of the Midwest recycle America's past into its future. The maple in stock at this time is riddled with holes created by wood boring insects giving it an incredible texture and appearance that wears a story of time and decay on its surface. Unless requested otherwise, all woodworking projects are finished naturally, without colored stains, allowing the unique, natural beauty of each piece of wood speak for itself. Species are used individually or paired together like colors of paint to create unique, beautiful and natural designs.
