Woody's is a beer joint, period. Oh, you can get a burger there, but it's really a beer joint and nothing else. It's situated in a WWII Quonset hut that was probably salvaged from now-defunct Fort Wolters a few hundred yards down the highway. Couple of pool tables and a TV that plays nothing but sports recaps all day long.There is no menu. Just beer, burgers on a grill while you watch, and a few packaged chips. No catfish, no chicken-fries, no French fries, no salads. The down-and-out blue-collar clientele is pretty much what you'd expect in such a dive. A sign on the front door warns against using fowl language or starting trouble, although most of Woody's patrons can't read it.Five domestic beers on tap are usually cold, and they come in frosty schooners.The sign out front braggs, "BEST HAMBURGER IN TEXAS," but the reality is pathetically different. The burgers are passably edible at best, and the barmaid flips them with one had while she drags on her cig with the other.
