Established in 1903, the Milwaukie Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that preserves peace and detects and prevents crime. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies to ensure public safety. The department employs a staff of more than 35 full-time, sworn officers, volunteers and civilians. The Milwaukie Police Department supports a cadet program that educates youths to learn tactics, procedures, laws and other daily duties of police officers. It operates a communication center that responds to emergency and nonemergency calls, as well as provides communication services to various federal agencies. Located in Milwaukie, Ore., the Milwaukie Police Department also provides neighborhood watch, community-oriented policing and animal control services.
