About Shorewood The Village of Shorewood was established in 1900 and has a colorful history including several different names such as Mechanicsville, Cementville, and East Milwaukee. The Village is comprised of approximately 1, 000 acres, about 1.5 square miles. Today, it offers four commercial districts in addition to an attractive mix of housing, excellent school system and public transportation.
