"I am a strong advocate of the saying: prevention is better than a cure. Through a collaborative decision-making effort, I help my patients avoid complications and manage chronic illnesses." Dr. Essien earned his degree in medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, in 2009. He completed his residency at the University of Chicago's Family Medicine Residency Program in 2013. He is board certified in family medicine. Dr. Essien has special interests in preventive medicine, diabetes, hypertension and other chronic disease management and caring for families - from infancy into the golden years.
