"Prevention is my top priority. I like to understand the cultural background of the families I serve so, as a team, we can prevent illnesses." Dr. Delgado earned his medical degree in 1999 at the Escuela Autonoma de Ciencias Medicas de Centro America, in San Jose, Costa Rica. He completed his pediatrics residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Delgado completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in 2008. Dr. Delgado is board certified in general pediatrics, and he is fluent in Spanish. Being a pediatrician has been his career choice since childhood. As a youth, he had a cousin who was born with spina bifida and the interaction he had with his cousin inspired him to be a doctor. Dr. Delgado enjoys meeting the extended family caregivers who are part of his young patients' lives. This allows him to develop healthcare strategies that will be reinforced by all family members. Dr. Delgado is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
