- ArthritisAs rheumatologist specialists, we treat rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases including arthritis (e.g., osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis), osteoporosis, Lyme disease, scleroderma, and many other conditions. Various modalities, including physical therapy, local injection, and medication, are used to treat these conditions.
- RheumatologyDr. Martens joined South Shore Internal Medicine in 2000. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and his medical degree from University of Wisconsin. He completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Miriam Hospital and his fellowship in rheumatology at Mayo Clinic.

- ColonoscopyAs gastroenterologist specialists, we treat and manage diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Gastroenterology is the study of the normal function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. We treat common and important conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and pancreatitis. We perform upper endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy, as well as perform advanced endoscopic procedures such as polypectomy (removal of colon polyps), esophageal and intestinal dilation (stretching of narrowed areas), and hemostasis (injection or cautery to stop bleeding).
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- ElectrocardiogramAs cardiovascular specialists, we treat all forms of cardiovascular illness, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmia. In addition, we evaluate and treat risk factors of cardiovascular disease with special focus on lipid abnormalities and hypertension. Our office also offers a variety of cardiovascular testing including electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, blood pressure monitors, exercise stress tests, echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, pacemaker follow-up, and much more.
- ImmunizationsFlu vaccination is indicated for anyone six months and older. It is especially important for anyone who is at high risk of complications should they get the flu (such as people greater than 65 years of age, pregnant woman, or those with chronic illnesses such as Asthma or Diabetes). We offer a flu clinic to our patients beginning in October. Appointment is needed.
- PregnancyOur laboratory is state certified and staffed by highly trained technicians. Our laboratory services allow us to gain direct access to accurate laboratory data that is used for patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. Our services include phlebotomy, urinalysis, fecal occult blood analysis, strep screens, pregnancy testing, and more. Laboratory testing must be authorized by your physician.
- Internal MedicineAs internal medicine physicians, we provide personalized, quality care to adults by managing chronic health conditions and promoting health and wellness. Our comprehensive services range from general wellness and prevention to the diagnosis of many health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic health problems.
- GastroenterologyDr. Fiore joined South Shore Internal Medicine in November of 2017. He has been a long-time member of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton Medical Staff. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his internship, residency and fellowship at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Fiore is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
