The New Mexico Department of Transportation is a statewide public service agency that designs, constructs, operates and maintains the state s transportation infrastructure systems, buildings and additional facilities. It offers information regarding road conditions, winter driving, construction and lane closures. The department undertakes various projects, such as Canal Street Corridor Study, Santa Fe Area Corridor Studies and Aragon Road Grade Separation Project Environmental Assessment. The New Mexico Department of Transportation performs functions related to the development of statewide transportation plans for various modes of transportation, including highways and turnpikes, aviation, mass transportation, high-speed railroads and water traffic. It additionally maintains a planning and construction division that handles statewide and regional planning, public participation in outreach programs, and design and construction project support. With a location in Milan, N.M., the department maintains its headquarters in Santa Fe, N.M.
